Polyester fabric, not as scary as it is painted!

What is polyester?

Polyester is a commonly used fabric produced through a process called polymerisation. What exactly is polymerisation? Polymerisation is a chemical process in which molecules called monomers join together to form long chains known as polymers through repeated chemical reactions. The resulting polymer can have various applications depending on the specific process and the types of monomers used. This is a fundamental process in the production of synthetic fabrics, where monomers link together to form long polyester chains.

What are the features of polyester?
Polyester fabric is a synthetic material characterised by:
• high tensile strength and abrasion resistance,
• wrinkle resistance,
• stain resistance,
• ease of cleaning,
• resistance to external factors.

Is polyester harmful to the environment?

It is often said that the production of polyester fabrics pollutes the environment. Is polyester as bad as they say? The answer lies in a type of polyester fabric called Rpet. What is Rpet? Rpet is a fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. RPET textiles help reduce waste by transforming plastic bottles into a new and useful material. Our fabrics have the international Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certificate, which means they are produced with environmental care and controlled use of chemicals safe for both humans and the environment.

Is polyester fabric worth choosing?

Yes, due to its main characteristics, polyester fabric is great for:
• garden canopies
• garden cushions,
• garden curtains,
• bean bags,
• children’s toys,
• pet beds and accessories,
• bags.
